As of late, internet social networks have been an influential aspect of our lives on and off the web. Social networks such as Facebook and Myspace have connected its users like no other social networks have before. They have influenced the way advertisers grab potential consumers and have changed the way people interact. Recently, a man named Randy Hallet has been influenced by these social networks in a very unique fashion. Instead of creating a network emulating what Facebook and Myspace have accomplished, he has founded a new social network that differs greatly from the aforementioned. His new social network, Garbo, is still in its beta form so not many details have been revealed to the general public. Mr. Hallet indicated that he wanted to eliminate the random inappropriate pictures found on today’s social networks. Interestingly, Hallet claims that at this rate in 2011 there will be more social networks than people. While this may or may not be true, him creating this new network is surely supporting his hypothesis. It will be quite interesting to see what kinds of different social networks arise from the ones we currently enjoy.
