Ithaca, NY Video recordings and one-on-one interviews with attendees are now available (http://www.eduserv.org.uk/events/repcloud) from the “Repositories in the Cloud”event sponsored by Eduserv (http://www.eduserv.org.uk/) and JISC (http://www.jisc.ac.uk/) last month in London where 145 participants gathered to learn about cloud computing risks and opportunities. Speakers reviewed recent repostitory infrastructure and management advances while offering views on what the future might look like for repositories in the cloud. Video recordings of presentations by Michele Kimpton, CBO DuraSpace, “DuraCloud - Open technologies and services for managing durable data in the cloud,” Alex D. Wade, Director Scholarly Communication, Microsoft Research, “Cloud Services for Repositories,” and Les Carr, EPrints, University of Southampton, “EPrints Cloud Visions” are now online.
Of particular interest are “Video reactions, thoughts and commentary by people at the event” by Adrian Stevenson, UKOLN. Stevenson spoke with Michele Kimpton, Alex Wade, Les Carr, Brad McLean, Ross MacIntyre, Michael Guthrie, John Salter, Rob Sanderson, Simeon Warner, Kevin Ashley, Jane Stevenson and Dave Tarrant to gain insights into what institutions and projects are hoping to accomplish using cloud storage and comptuting facilities.
