This is one of the coldest winters I can remember. How can the sea ice be melting? Maybe the polar bears should move to Ohio.

Lucy: Thanks for the comment. I'm not sure which power point you are referring to. The NSTA web seminar powerpoint? For hands-on activities about density, refer to this blog post: http://expertvoices.nsdl.org/polar/2008/10/29/physical-science-from-the-poles/. You can find lots of other polar information and teaching resources in the Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears magazine: http://beyondpenguins.nsdl.org/.

Missed the live Polar Bears presentation but really thought the power point was basic and to the point for my middle schoolers with a great deal of hands on activities. Now I need to find these hands on activities??? Really enjoyed the stop and ask a question in midstream way of getting you to the think about the problem or the concept as you're delving into it. Will do some ice cubes in water and ice cubes in rubbing alcohol to see what the kids think tomorrow. We're jumping into density soon and this will be a good lead in. Thank you!
