Im excited to be apart of this seminar, I have never done anything like this and find it very interesting along with the topic. Im sure there is a lot to learn about static electricity.
I am interested to find out what this seminar is all about.
I enjoyed the interactive seminar. It made for an intersting learning experience.
Thank you!
THis was a great program. I particularly liked the part about Ben Franklin and the chiken/turkey. Kids would love that. Also, I think many classrooms would love to be able to participate in interactive programs like we did tonight. Great job.
This was a really neat seminar! I had no idea what to expect but i found it very interesting and a cool experience! Something i wouldnt mind doing again. All of the presenters did a great job and it was easy to understand and follow! great job!
I really enjoyed the seminar. I did get kicked off of it for some reason, but it was towards the end so I got to see the majority of it. I found out that I knew the basics of statis electricit, but I am happy to say that I learned some new things as well. I am looking foward to viewing the physics website so that I can get some ideas for any science lessons that I may be needing in the near future. I really liked the activities sections, especially the one with the tape. That was neat. I do think that the activity with the pie tin went way too fast, but it was interesting. What was the purpose of the question with killing the chickens? Does that mean the chickens were killed by the elctricity that was made? I want to bookmark the website and save the powerpoints for future use.
I really enjoyed this seminar. It gave great ideas to do in the classroom that provides students a visual representation that is hands on to understand “science concepts”. I feel that it is a must to have hands on expiements when learning science, becuase it gives you evidence/proof of what exactly happens and why. Once you have whitness and understand cause and effect, you have a framwork to build on.
I found all the information to be very exciting. I liked learning about static electricity through technology. I believe that students would also enjoy learning through interaction, and using the computer. I am very glad to have been part of the seminar, all of the info will be useful, when I begin to teach.
I will also book mark this website and definety use it in the future!!
Other than my technical difficulties I really enjoyed this web seminar. The experiments used were very practical for an elementary science classroom and will help me come up with ideas later in my own classroom someday. The interaction of the seminar kept me involved and interested through out the entire time. Thanks for giving us this opportunity to be able to participate, it was very beneficial!
I had some problems with my computer, but other than that I thought the seminar was very useful and beneficial for us as future teachers. I really enjoyed the actual experiments shown. Overall, it was very interesting and I really liked the participation because it made us feel like we were actually there.
I really enjoyed the online seminar. I had never participated in one before but found it very beneficial and interesting. I really liked how it was interactive and we all got to participate. I learned a lot about electricity that I did not know and thought the experiment ideas were useful and can be incorporated into our classrooms. Thanks to the presenters and the time/effort that it took to put this on. =)
I really enjoyed the seminar this evening. It was cool how we can use technology to be a part of something like this and talk with professionals around the U.S. The info given throughout the presentation will be very useful for teachers. I liked the different activites, i thought that students will find them very interesting
I really liked this seminar. I didn’t realize there were so many cool ideas that can be used in the classroom when presenting these science topics. I really liked how everyone was welcomed to participate rather than simply watch. I gained a lot from this seminar and hope to view others.
I found the web seminar to be very interesting and informative. I liked how it was interactive so I could participate and answer questions. I learned a lot of ways to teach students about static electricity. I know that students would enjoy the activities because I sure did. I’m glad that I have a copy of the powerpoint of the seminar so I can keep it for my records when I’m in the classroom.
This is fantastic idea for all teachers!! I learned alot about electricity and web seminars and will most definetly be using this in the future!
I never knew that seminars such as this existed inline and I think it is a fantastic idea! It was very interesting to be able to listen to one of my professors speaking too! I will definetly keep up with this so I can learn more about alot of subjects for my classroom!
I liked the seminar better than just watching a video online, because you could hear the actual voice of the speaker and participate. The information provided was a good refresher for what I learned in Physics.
I feel that the majority of information covered in the links and during the seminar was geared towards middle school or high school. I tried to find lesson plans that could apply to early elementary, but could not find any. Does any one have a link, with interactive simulations, that they could suggest for physics?
I enjoyed the seminar also. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it ended as an informative experience. Thank you for including us.
The seminar was very beneficial. Now Dr. Ezrailson is a celebrity! Thanks for allowing to be a part of the seminar with you! You did a great job and I really enjoyed it!
I really enjoyed the seminar. I thought it was very interesting and I learned some things I had forgotten. I liked how the audience became invovled by being asked questions and volunteering for things. I liked that the seminar provided great experiments for students to do in the classroom.
The seminar provided me with ideas to use in my own classroom. The use of the technology made the seminar a great resource for teachers and students. I taught it was very helpful to have an introduction before the actual presentation.
hi there,
I thought this was an interesting seminar. It was intresting to see the results of the questions right away, and it was surprising at the different results, that shows we all need a refresher course on electrostatics. This is a great website and a place for a teacher to use for planning lessons on this exciting topic and science topics.
Maria
I did have some technical difficulty and have had to watch and lidten to the archived version. This information does seem more on the level for middle and high school. It would be interesting to find some lower grade levels lessons plans on this topic of electrostatics.

How can you make students understand these concepts better? The online seminar was good. I liked hw it was interactive and easy to understand. I thought the quizzes that check for meaning are outstanding so the students can make sure they are following the info. Another way to help students undertsand these concepts better would be to bring in physical models to the class. They can also view a video or read a book to help them retain information.
How do online resources like The Physics Front and other resources from comPADRE help? Online resources gives teachers an idea for a lesson plan that they can incorporate in the class. It gives me more knowlege that what I had and so I would be able to use those sites along with the textbook as a method for teaching my students.
Wow, I cannot believe the power of technology these days! It has come so far since I was in school! I thought that the seminar was really very interesting and I loved that it was interactive. I was able to get some really good ideas for my classroom which was nice. I think that these kinds of seminars are really neat especially since you can connect with people all over the world!
How would you incorporate something like this into the classroom? Would it be something that a classroom could do and connect with some people across the world? That might be a really cool way of integrating science and social studies.
I really enjoyed the web seminar. It is awesome that we can communicate online so easily. It felt like a real lecture in a real classroom and the interaction adds to the experience.
I enjoyed the web seminar. I learned some really neat things that I can se in my own classroom.
I watched the online archived version of the seminar because my application was not able to load correctly the day of the web seminar. I truly missed out! What a neat idea and a great new resource for teachers!! Not only is it organized and easy to understand and learn from, but it is technologically more advanced that other options that teachers have to present information form (overhead projector?). This is a great way for students to be able to look back at recent seminars and hear and see a presentation in such a great way!
I enjoyed the seminar because it had very intresting information. It was done in a way that I understood the content and that helped me understand and see how I could teach it so my students will understand.
I think that this topic of study is very interesting. I watched the archived seminar because I was unable to log into the seminar. I think that this would be a great way of teaching children. Children need variety in the classroom to keep their interest and attention, and technology is becoming that media in which a lot can be done to inhance students’ learning. I enjoyed the seminar and think that this type of learning is great.
I am currently watching the seminar and I think it is really interesting. There are a lot of good activities presented. I really wish I would have been at the actual seminar so that I could have participated more. Will you be doing any more this semester?
Thanks for the opportunity!
I had to watch the seminar in the archive, so I’m sad I didn’t get to do the live participation! However, it was a very new concept for me. I really enjoyed the way that the people in the seminar could interact with one another as if they were in the same room. It really made me think about how this could be the new virtual classroom. I could see this being used more and more in the future, even with children in elementary. I really like the use of the diagrams and explanations that followed the demonstrations. I really enjoyed seeing this process in action and am excited to hopefully use it one day in my classroom!
I thought that the seminar was very useful. I didn’t know that I was capable of having such interaction with others from my pc at home! The information provided was very well organized and I feel like I learned a lot. I can see that these types of web seminars will be very useful to me when I am a classroom teacher because they are so accessible and easy to use.
I really enjoyed this web seminar. It was interactive throughout the entire time which helped make learning fun. I would definately use some of these ideas to help me when I am teaching science in the future. These seminars are definately something I would like to incorporate into my classroom since children love doing activities that require them to be at a computer.
I really enjoyed this seminar. Unfortunetly, when I signed on, the max had reached. I hope to be able to log in earlier next time so that I can participate. The activities shown are great because they are inexpensive, practical, and actually teach a difficult concept in an easy manner. I think that the seminars themselves can be integrated in the classroom and think that the students themselves will not only benefit from them but also enjoy them!
I enjoyed watching this seminar and thought it was amazing how people interacted with one another from all over. Benjamin Franklin was playing with static electricity. I liked the demonstrations throughout the seminar and it gave me great ideas for my future classroom. Also, the second question asked about natural phenomena that are tornadoes. Charges play a major role in our world.
I loved having the chance to participate in this seminar. I found the concepts, demonstrations, and diagrams to be very beneficial to me. Science is definitely one of the subject I struggle them ost with. I hope to use this activties in my classroom one day. I was so thankful when someone asked if we could print off the diagrams! I will be doing that for sure!
I really enjoyed the seminar. It was very informative and interactive at the same time. Unfortunately, I was not very aware of how to use this type of interactive seminar at first, so the help from the administrator on how to participate was very helpful. I would definitely use this type of activity in an elementary classroom. THe fact that we were able to type comments and choose answers during the session made it more enjoyable and fun for me.
I really enjoyed this seminar. I had never participated in on an online seminar and found it to be quite useful. I think it is a great idea and would use it in a classroom to help the students become more familiar with the subject being taught as well as technology that is available to them.
I just want to know what is electricity made off.I searched in all possible places, but I could not find what are the key ingriedients of electricity.what makes it to produce heat. Its relation with magnatism.can someone pls explain it to me.
You ask a very good question, one that scientists debate to this day. I refer you to some materials that may help you. Please look at http://amasci.com/miscon/whatis.html
Thanks,
