Issue 15 of the Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears cyberzine is now available! In Icebergs and Glaciers, learn about these two very different forms of ice, and what they can teach us (and students) about concepts like buoyancy and density.
In this issue, we’ve dedicated our Professional Learning columns to glaciers and our Across the Curriculum columns to icebergs. Both departments have science content knowledge articles for your professional development. You’ll find iceberg lessons in Across the Curriculum and glacier lessons in Science and Literacy. Of course, we also offer our differentiated informational text for students in the Science and Literacy department. In this issue, students can read “Ice Sculptures” to learn about the landforms and features glaciers leave behind and practice the reading comprehension skill of visualizing.
Of course, we tackle other topics as well: misconceptions, instructing students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and using iPod Touches in the elementary classroom. We also have a new episode in our podcast series, in which you can learn about scientists that study Greenland’s icebergs and glaciers.
We hope you’ll check out Issue 15 - Icebergs and Glaciers today!
