Unit Plans for Rocks and Minerals, Fossils Now Available

Even though we have published our final issue of the Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears cyberzine, we’re still adding and revising content to make the resource better and more useful. We’re pleased to announce that we have recently added two new unit plan articles - one for the Learning From the Polar Past issue (focusing on fossils) and the second for the Rocks and Minerals issue. These articles assemble resources from the cyberzine issues into unit plans for Grades K-2 and 3-5. The plans follow the 5E Learning Cycle model, integrate literacy and science, and can be adapted for diverse teaching situations. We hope that these plans will help teachers more effectively integrate Beyond Penguins resources into their classrooms and enhance the content that they already teach.

You can view all of our unit plans across issues through our “Browse Columns” feature. We’re continuing to add unit plans for each issue, so check back often for updates!
