Pathways Meeting Photos

Miss Honey Bee, aka Beautrice Lennartz (1904-1998), was a beloved Boulder music teacher who lunched often in the Boulderado Hotel. Her life-sized portrait hangs near the top of the hotel’s five-story grand stairway, which connects the 160 rooms in the 1909 building to an opulent lobby with a stained glass skylight for a roof.

The 53 representatives of NSDL Pathways and Core Integration staff who gathered at the Boulderado on August 1-2 didn’t have much time to enjoy Miss Honey Bee or Boulder’s many other charms – they were locked together like a hive of worker bees, in a windowless conference room. But they did their best during breaks.

Michael Luby opened the morning session of the second day with a report on several imminent deals with scientific publishers, and Susan Van Gundy followed with a wide-ranging report on Core integration’s work in outreach and marketing. Martin Blume, who has guided NSDL since its beginnings from his seat on the National Visiting Committee, continued with a candid review of NSDL’s first five years, and the morning ended with a wide-ranging discussion of how the partners could work together to increase efficiency and impact. Then it was time to say goodbye and run, either to the Pearl Street Mall for Lunch or the SuperShuttle for a ride to the airport.
